At his landscapes Alexander Lirner is amazingly delicate in portraying
of old Kiev nooks, many of which have already disappeared from the face
of the city. These works are saturated with so much cordiality and artist's
love and possess such a lyric and mild mood that the one often desires to
penetrate into the painting and to walk along the streets of this imaginary Kiev.
As if have turned aside from one of Kiev streets into the arch of the centennial house,
we get into the courtyard - also absolutely Kiev - saturated with city's spirit and
atmosphere. Lightness and quit of these landscapes touch the most delicate strings of
the soul, independently of whether the courtyard has been captured during the March day
or November evening.
